Four Veterans + Five households moving out of Homelessness + Three Families escaping Domestic Abuse = Twelve Households
It has been seven months since I started working here. Five months ago, we opened the doors to serve those in need of furniture. Today we celebrate twelve households who had some income and a place to stay but needed furniture to make it a home. Today we celebrate a community that has helped to reach out to their neighbors, friends and strangers. Many have helped by donating furniture, household items, their time by volunteering and financially helping.
Although we celebrate twelve households, we celebrate twelve families that have their own stories to share. Everyone who has come in the door has a story that has touched our hearts. I will never forget the Veteran who shared that I was the first person in many years to thank him for his service. I will never forget His tears of gratitude. I will never forget the woman who saw her little girls light up as they shared about all the new furniture they received – to see hope restored in the home is precious to a mother’s heart.
Although we celebrate twelve households, we celebrate Veterans. I will never forget the many Veterans who have walked through our warehouse to help another fellow Veteran, to move furniture and to promote us. Once a soldier always a soldier. They partnered with us to ensure their fellow Veterans would have another resource.
Although we celebrate twelve households, we celebrate volunteers – especially our mighty men of valor. I will never forget the many volunteers who have already helped. It was not easy. After all, we are moving furniture. I will never forget the many men who arose to help – many men young and older. The men that I call mighty men of valor.
Although we celebrate twelve households, we celebrate the many non profits, churches and agencies who care for others. I will never forget the many agencies that have given, encouraged and advised. I will never forget their care, compassion and partnership. We are not competitors but partners with the same compassionate heart.
Although we celebrate twelve households, we celebrate God’s faithfulness! He is good all the time. All the time, He is good!
Today we celebrate God’s faithfulness!
Men shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts,
And I will tell of Your greatness.
7They shall eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant goodness
And will shout joyfully of Your righteousness.
8The LORD is gracious and merciful;
Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.
9The LORD is good to all,
And His mercies are over all His works.
10All Your works shall give thanks to You, O LORD,
And Your godly ones shall bless You.
11They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom
And talk of Your power;
12To make known to the sons of men Your mighty acts
And the glory of the majesty of Your kingdom.
