Turning Houses into Homes

The Mustard Seed of Central Indiana is a social service and humanitarian aid agency that depends on community donations of essential furniture and housewares to serve those fighting poverty. By rehoming your furniture and household items, you help restore hope and stability in housing for others.

To help rebuild the lives of families and individuals who have suffered disaster, personal tragedy or other misfortunes by providing household furnishings.

To inspire growth and sustainability in the community of Central Indiana, one person/family at a time, by turning a house into a home.

We are partnered with RDOOR for the Streets to Home Project and would love your donation of a new queen bed in a bag, towel kit, shower curtains, hooks, & bath mats as we rush to help provide essential items for 22 units as part of this emergency response effort

We also have a current need for gently used full sized beds, linens, towels rubber totes, large tote bags, laundry soap, and boxes.

Partner Agencies / Refer Families

If you or someone you know could benefit from our services and is already receiving assistance from an agency, organization, or business, please reach out to your case manager or advocate to have them submit a referral on your behalf.

We serve individuals and families residing in Marion, Hamilton, Madison, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson, Morgan, Hendricks, and Boone counties. We assist clients that live in any county within the middle third of the state, but our furniture delivery service is only available within those 9 named counties. We do not, however, provide our services directly to the public. You must have a community referral due to our limited resources.

OUR IMPACT.

In 2024, thanks to the generosity of our community, we provided 2,168 pieces of furniture to 206 individuals and families helping turn empty spaces into warm, welcoming homes.

As you clean out your home, office, hotel, or rental property this please consider donating your gently used furniture to help someone starting fresh after homelessness, or crisis.
