Help Hoosiers in your own neighborhood!
Hello, Friends & Neighbors!
Thank you so very much for visiting our website! We appreciate your interest.
The most common question we hear is, “What is The Mustard Seed, and what do you do?” We enjoy sharing why we’re here, and how we help improve the lives of Hoosiers in central Indiana.
It’s simple, really. The Mustard Seed operates a furniture bank. Think food pantry, but with furniture on our shelves instead of canned goods. We seek out donations of gently used furniture from our community then work with social service agencies, organizations, and businesses to give that furniture to Hoosiers living in central Indiana who need it most.
Furniture is a quality-of-life necessity. Our work lightens, or eliminates, the burden of furnishing a home for individuals coming out of homelessness or other hardships that left them struggling to start over in a home of their own. Whether they’re a veteran and family overcoming PTSD, a young mom building employment skills to provide a safe and comfortable home for her children, a domestic violence survivor, or a recovering addict rebuilding a sober life, having a place to sit, sleep, eat, and put their belongings program makes it easier to focus on building a bright future.
We try to be open between the hours of 9 am-5pm, Monday through Friday, for drop off donations but it’s not always possible. We have an incredibly committed, but small, team and we are all working in a variety of positions to do our part in making certain that needy Hoosiers are greeted warmly, treated kindly, and served graciously. So, please ALWAYS call or email to verify the office is open and attended before heading out to drop off a donation.
If you’re intrigued by our work and want to know more, send us an email at info@mustardseedindy.org. We are always happy to chat and tell people about the really impactful work we do here at The Mustard Seed of Central Indiana.
Thanks!
