Tim - Mr. Fixit/Warehouse/Woodworking
Tim is our handyman, fills in the gaps, helps in the warehouse, helps with donations, repairs furniture, builds furniture, and designs plans to make the best use of materials we already have on hand. Tim runs a personal training gym during the week and went to IU for graphic design and art. He formerly owned a skateboard company and still enjoys anything with wheels from bikes to motor cycles.
Board of Directors (2026)
Chuck (President and Founder) - the person who brought the Mustard Seed furniture bank model to Indiana. Inspired by the original Mustard Seed in Florida, he helped establish the organization’s presence in Fort Wayne before it expanded to central Indiana in Fishers. He saw the furniture bank model as a way to give back to the community and was instrumental in launching and growing Mustard Seed operations in Indiana. In addition to his work with the Mustard Seed, he has is also know for philanthropic involvement in other community ventures.
Brian (Vice President) supports the, helps guide strategic direction, and ensures strong governance and accountability in advancing the organization’s mission.
Brian brings experience in finance and management. His professional background strengthens the board’s ability to provide oversight, strategic planning, and sustainable growth for the organization.
Michelle (Secretary and Treasurer - Supports board governance, maintains official records, and helps ensure strong organizational oversight and accountability.
Michelle brings experience in hospitality with a background in management. Her attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to mission-driven work strengthen the board’s effectiveness and strategic focus.
Troy (Board Member) He is passionate about serving families transitioning from hardship and believes that a stable, furnished home is foundational to dignity and long-term success. He is proud to support The Mustard Seed’s work in restoring stability to individuals and families across Central Indiana.
Mike (Board Member) brings expertise in real estate and marketing. He understands the critical connection between housing stability and long-term success for individuals and families and supports the organization’s efforts to strengthen partnerships.
Darcie serves as Executive Director of The Mustard Seed of Central Indiana. She brings more than a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership and affordable housing, along with executive management experience in long-term care and assisted living.
Prior to leading The Mustard Seed, Darcie worked in the nonprofit affordable housing sector and served as Director of both a nursing home and an assisted living community, overseeing operations, compliance, staffing, and resident care. Her background reflects a deep commitment to stability, dignity, and systems that support vulnerable populations.
Darcie is a Certified Mediator in both civil and domestic matters through the Michigan Supreme Court. In 2023, she earned her Nonprofit Leadership credential and Grant Writing certification, further strengthening her expertise in organizational development and resource sustainability.
Originally from Michigan, Darcie relocated to Indiana four years ago and quickly became deeply involved in the local nonprofit community. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Aspire Indiana Health, Grassroot Projects, Soul Food Project Indy, and Indy Dog Advocates.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Purdue University.
Outside of her professional work, Darcie enjoys gardening, animal advocacy, photography, travel, furniture restoration, and antiques. She finds joy in transforming overlooked spaces and items into something meaningful — a passion that mirrors her work at The Mustard Seed.
Simon, Jose, Ollie - Operations Team
“The Guys” are new to our team and they select, pack, drive, unpack, deliver to families and then they pick up donations (heavy ones) after that. All are family orientated and hard working.
Maddie and Israel - Office Assistant/Interns
Maddie is a junior at CHS and an avid softball player. She plans on attending Miami of Ohio and then going to Northwestern for law school. She helps in the office with billing and filing and some Canva support. Israel helps in the office on Fridays and brings joy to the office. He is also a Bears fan!
